PIER 39 Marina offers guest docking (< 7 days) and transient docking (7-30 days) from Opening Day on the Bay until mid-Autumn. (End of April – End of October).
ADVANCED RESERVATIONS REQUIRED! The Marina Office is closed on Saturday and Sunday. Any docking requests submitted on those days will not be reviewed until the following Monday.

PIER 39 Marina is long term tenant focused – we allow the general public to guest dock with reservations made a minimum of 24 hours in advance.
We DO NOT accept same day requests.
We DO NOT facilitate pick up/drop offs.

Sorry, we can’t tell you where the slips for rent are until you have submitted your completed application packet.
All prospective tenants must provide the following documents which must be in the applicant’s name:
- Current Survey (within 3 years) for all vessels over 20 years old. opens in a new windowNeed a Surveyor?
- Excellent and verifiable prior marina references
- Proof of residence (a land-based utility bill or lease agreement in applicant’s name)
- Insurance limit of $500,000 -(upon acceptance insurance must list additional insureds)
- A “soft pull” Credit Check will be required.
- NO HOUSEBOATS OF ANY KIND.
What about Liveaboard Permits?
Due to overwhelming demand and complete lack of movement on the list for several years, the Liveaboard Permit waitlist is completely closed.
If you are investigating an ad for a slip or a buying a vessel in the marina that intimates “getting on the liveaboard list” as a perk, please know that this is not available.
Please understand –we receive multiple calls (every. single. day.) asking about liveaboard availability and all varieties of ‘stay aboard’ situations. We are a recreational marina- not alternative housing for the Bay Area.
Liveaboard permits are assigned to individuals, not specific rental slips, subleases, or boats and are 100% non-transferrable.

MARINA TENANTS! Looking for Insured Maritime Vendors?
All boat workers and maritime businesses who wish to work at PIER 39 must provide proof of minimum levels of valid Commercial Insurance. (Sorry, we cannot access any vendors without proof of current insurance to the docks.)
